The big fat lie!

Since there’s so much ‘hysteria’ on low-fat and no-fat products, I figured I do a quick write up on fat. In fact, your body needs fat. To quote one of my favorite health bloggers: Eating fat won’t make you fat, just liking eating vegetables won’t make you a vegetable!

I’m note telling you to eat any piece of deep fried something-something just because I’m telling you fat isn’t that bad. Stick to healthy sources of good fat, such as:

  • Eggs
  • Avocado
  • Coconut milk and oil
  • Butter
  • Fatty fish
  • Cheese and milk

Stop being afraid of eating fat, and eat natural food!

How I got started with The Venus Factor

Sorry, it’s been a little quiet over the last couple of weeks. My oldest son has been sick, and I’ve been drowning in paperwork ugh … I’ll get better on updating — I promise! 🙂

Anyways, I promised I would write more on how I lost weight.

I got started after watching a TV show similar to the “The biggest loser” … Cliche, I know. I’ve seen plenty of these shows before, but this time there was something different. I was seeing a woman, a few years older than me, and how her weight had ruined her family.

I kinda saw myself like that. It really scared me. It is a hard feeling to describe, but it’s that ‘what the hell am I doing with my life feeling’ …  I decided then that I was going to lose weight — and this time I was going to make it.

I first sat down in front of the computer, googling ‘how to lose weight’. I was reading side up and side down on various forums, Yahoo Answers .. you name it. I bet there are as many weight loss programs as there are obese people. I eventually landed at, through, and read her review on the Venus factor program (direct link).

I know from previous weight loss ventures that my biggest problem is my motivation. Even now, I knew that my initial boost after watching the TV show would end in a few weeks, and I would be back to the same old. This was one of the reasons for chosing the venus program in the first place … I wanted to stay motivated, and figures the members area was a great place for this. I also have little knowledge og the mechanisms behind weight loss, and had to get a program which was easy to comprehend.

It’s been a while since I finished my 12 weeks, but I still stick to the principles in the program. I even hang out at the members area. Staying healthy is a lifestyle, and something I’ve actually gained a genuine interest in (which is one of the reasons for starting this blog).

I will get to you in hopefully not to long with some pictures and  a ‘timeline’, if you can call it that, of my weight loss story.


Welcome to my little weight loss blog

My name is Addyson, 32 and I live with my family just outside London, UK.

I’ve spent the last year losing weigh. After losing nearly 80 pounds, I am soon at where I want to be. Now I can’t wait to meet the summer in my new body.

Why am I starting a blog? Once I decided to lose weight, I had trouble finding blogs on people starting up … I did find blogs on Tumblr and Pinterest, showing super fit women and these motivation posters you see everywhere, but not much I felt I could relate to. I was, as you can see from my numbers above, more than 80 pounds over weight … seeing pictures of girls at the gym wasn’t really motivating me. 😉

I just planned a quick post today, as it’s getting late and I have to get up in the morning, but I’ll write a longer post on exactly how I lost weight in the coming days. I’ll also post different weight loss tips, maybe some recipes and other stuff which have helped me through this ‘journey’ (I guess we can call it that?).

I’m not an expert, but I’m sure I can help you out if you have any questions or if you want to lose weight, but you’re not sure exactly where to start.
